Archeologist

It was supposed to be a quick, routine patrol of a newly discovered planet. When the scanners have indicated a metal object deep below the planet's rocky ground, however, the archeologist felt a surge of excitement. Minutes later, the digging robots excavated a large metal coffer. Security scan showed no traces of biological danger and the precious discovery was taken aboard the spaceship.

In her private chambers, the impatient archeologist opened the chest and carefully examined each of the ancient treasures inside. Placing them one by one on the cool, metallic surface of the floor, she knew she has found something very special at last. A nice change after years of meaningless discoveries that looked good in the holo-museum, but brought her no satisfaction.

At the bottom of the trunk, a large manuscript awaited her. Carefully, she took it out and put in front of her for study. Written in blood on thick vellum, there were spells, magical formulas and alchemy diagrams, all mysterious and irresistible.

Ordering her little utility robots to gather all the findings around her, the archeologist lit the centuries-old candle and inhaled the hypnotizing scent of incense.

She was ready to bring the long-forgotten magic back to life.
