The dA birthday celebration theme this year took me down an interesting memory lane, and so I decided to share.

When I first joined deviantART all those years ago, I was just a nobody in the artistic world. I had a few poems of my own written, but was notoriously ashamed to share them. I had one or two short stories, but they were in Polish only. Most importantly, though, I had never expected to ever have a chance to become an artist.

Why did I even bother to join dA in that case?

To be able to experience art, of course. To see all the amazing things the really talented people could create. Back in the days, when this site was all about ART and only a spicy little about deviant, browsing through all of the galleries was a truly magnificent experience. Nowadays... it mostly makes me cringe, sadly.

Here are just a few examples of the pieces that had dragged me in and made me stay:

Snowdrop by anry   Knight Shift by anry   Pain Killer by anry

So heavy is your crown by Candra   Gothica by Candra   Cuffs and collar for a King by Candra

The Well by kerembeyit   Flame Mage by kerembeyit   Playtime by kerembeyit

So... happy b-day, deviantART.
Here's hoping that one day you'll manage to fully focus on the ART again.
